Astral Glamping Tent | 3 Sizes | 13, 16, 20-Foot

We built our nonprofit glampground around 8 Stargazer Tents from Wilderness Resource — and they’ve truly been the perfect choice. As an educational farm and working nonprofit (Hungry World Farm), we were looking for something that blended affordability, durability, and visual impact. These tents hit all three.

Our guests love the “yurt-style” glamping experience, especially the ability to walk fully around the tents (unlike bell tents), and the interior space is ideal — easily fits two queen beds or a king + futon with room to spare. The 360° windows allow for great airflow, and the clear ceiling panel adds a magical touch that guests rave about.

They allow for affordable nightly rates while maintaining high occupancy, because the style is just unique enough to draw glamping-curious guests who don’t want to pay $300+ for domes or traditional yurts.

The ROI is exceptional — a basic setup with a bed, solar lights, and a few pieces of repurposed furniture makes these units rental-ready at a fraction of the cost of comparable structures.

Unlike domes or traditional yurts, you don’t need a permit to set them up and start renting.

We’ve tested other tent styles (including standard $400 tents with similar capacity), and they simply don’t rent as well. Small tents get passed over — folks would rather bring their own unless you’re offering something truly special. These tents are that “something special.”

Durability-wise, they've been phenomenal. We’ve had them up through Illinois thunderstorms, high winds, and even full winters (we just brushed snow off occasionally). One tent even survived a massive oak tree falling on it — the tent was dented down but no rips, no broken poles, and the inside was unharmed. That kind of durability gives us serious peace of mind.

We’ve had one loop break in over a year, but there are backups built in. Pro tip: only allow guests to use one of the two doors, so if the zipper gets damaged, you’ve got a backup.

I won’t get too deep into the financials here (trying not to give away all our secrets to other glamp-grounds near Chicago 😉), but if you’re a landowner or farm looking to earn income through glamping, these tents are the best investment we’ve made. We purchased two Astrals last year. A 13’ and a 16’. We offer Glamping at Boomtown Rustic Camp in western mountains of Maine. These tents are perfect. Our guests love them. Visiting from ten different countries the tents are spacious and comfortable. One couple was from the military in Israel. They were very impressed with the quality of the tent. When I explained they were made by veterans they stated they knew there was a story behind the tent judging by the craftsmanship. We took our tents down storing for the winter. Recently putting them up for the season and look to be in wonderful shape. When I had a question concerning care I simple sent an email the company emailed the very same day. Super responsive.
