TENT RELATED QUESTIONS

Overall Footprint: When determining the space necessary to erect one of the tents we have listed, the easiest answer is that you'll need an area roughly 10 feet larger than the actual size of the tent to allow it to properly shape up when utilizing the guy lines. For example: A 13 foot tent will need 23 feet of space, a 16 foot tent will need 26 feet, a 20 foot tent will need 30 Feet of space and so on. Plan for at least 5 extra feet on all sides of the tent.

Tent Platforms: The tents can definitely be set up on platforms!  There have really only been 3 problems that people have come across. First you will need to secure the base of the tent with something in place of the stakes, unless you plan on drilling holes for each base stake to go through. Second, depending on the height of the platform the guy lines might not be long enough to reach the ground to properly secure them. The guy lines that come with the tents are approximately 8 feet long for the 13' and 16' models and 10 feet long for the 20' models. An easy solution would be to tie the end of the guy line to some more rope to give it more length, or replace the rope that it comes with, with something longer. We currently don't offer any longer guy lines, but the rope can be sourced at most big box hardware stores or online. Another solution would be to build the platform about 5 feet longer all around, and screw some hooks into the platform in place of the stakes. Unfortunately both of these solutions create the third problem. There will be long strands of rope all around the tent creating a tripping hazard and make the rest of the platform difficult to move around on.

Get creative with the guy line mounting solutions. We've seen customers tie them to trees, build posts on the platform specifically for the ropes, and run them between cracks of the platform boards to reach the ground. Every situation is different. We can't set your tent up for you, but we can help you brainstorm solutions. If you feel like you're stuck, shoot us a message!
